Stellar Blade by Shift Up has me completely engaged since its exclusive PS5 release on April 26. I immediately fell for its gripping combat, intriguing narrative, and beautifully realized world (as I was surprised by some lacking features but about these some other time) - everything about Stellar Blade has captured my interest. The combat, very similar to that of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, which was the main source of inspiration, is probably the best feature, but what attracted me besides it was Eve. She was the reason why I deepened my appreciation of all Stellar Blade aspects - combat, visuals, and world design.
Every playthrough I make brings new outfits for Eve - and let me tell you, these outfits don't just fall flat: they are adorable, stylish, and Instagram-worthy - over 70 options to choose from guarantee plenty of variety - while some of the most desirable outfits happen to cover more skin. While Stellar Blade doesn't focus on sexualized character design, Eve is alluring even if she exudes a cool and capable warrior vibe (and seems incapable of exiting this mood).
Recently, Eve has made waves online due to her wardrobe choices, sparking heated discussions about artistic expression versus censorship. My opinion is clear: I don't mind an even more sexier Eve. She should be the reason why you are picky and choose not to buy cheap PS5 games but only big AAA productions. While some may dispute what's being covered up or revealed from certain viewpoints, I find Eve alluring beyond skin deep. Eve's physique reflects her role as a formidable fighter but she is not shy of showing some skin. Imagine a lean and athletic build, honed for agility and strength, wearing at times very alluring attires. Her movements are likely to be quick and precise, reflecting years of training and combat experience.
Eve is inspired by stunning South Korean model Shin Jae-eun, and it certainly shows in her appearance. Being so striking an inspiration makes Eve stand out no matter what she wears - something the Stellar Blade community appreciates and acknowledges when discussing Eve. But Eve does not shine too much through its sexuality even if she has all the necessary physical attributes to do it (easily). She seems to show confidence and charisma only in those combat-related situations, she is more a soldier in character than a woman. However, while in battle armor or stylish attire, you can recognize her beautiful body and I won't be surprised if she will become one of the world's iconic characters.
Everybody has different ideas of what constitutes seducing attire, but I find the outfits some gamers out to be too... predictable for my tastes. You know the look: mini skirts riding high with their miniskirts on high; cleavage displayed and pants creeping up where they shouldn't; all designed to make Eve easier to ogle (though she certainly returns the gaze!). Yes, there's an exhilarating rush when seeing your partner don a provocative outfit like a maid costume - I won't deny that. However, once everything's out in the open, there's not much room left for interpretation and it may feel like one of those cheap PS5 games which is not that good; like opening your most impressive present and realizing it's exactly as expected. I love this Eve who is not overly sexualized and seems to be innocent enough not to be aware of her allure.
